Match Report - Bedford Town

Match Report

Two goals before half-time by Ben Boateng and Lewis Carpenter sealed The Royals a 2-0 win and three points against visiting Bedford Town, as the sides clashed at Latimer Park in the United Counties League Under-21 Division.

It was the first league fixture for three weeks for the youngsters, who claimed a 2-0 win in the dying embers of their previous match against Yaxley FC at home.

Both sides enjoyed spells of possession in the early forays before long the deadlock was broken by Boateng on 26 minutes.

The Eagles looked to apply pressure in search of an equaliser, yet it was Kettering that were looking the likelier of getting the game’s second goal.

And that second goal finally came in the closing three minutes before the break, as Carpenter was on hand to guide in a header when the danger wasn’t effectively cleared.

Kettering had a little bit of late defending to do as The Eagles tried to salvage something from the game, but the defence stuck to the task to claim a clean sheet.
