TODAYS MATCH SPONSORS: BOB MILLER, MARTIN TURNER,ROGER ASHBY,KENNY EVANS,ALAN STEPHENS, JEZ SAFFORD TODAYS PROGRAMME SPONSORS: BRYONY AND MALCOLM GATES TODAYS GUESTS ARE DEAFBLIND UK IN BRIEF: Kettering won this game at a canter. An early Rhys Hoenes strike and a Brett Solkhon penalty saw a 2-0 half time scoreline with Frome having a decent spell just before the break. After Aaron OConnor made it 3-0 in the 50th minute the game was played out in easy fashion with both sides using their substitutes to the full. THE KETTERING SQUAD: The squad was exactly the same as last Tuesday, with Tom Marshall suffering from pneumonia, Durrell Berry with his ruptured achilles and James Brighton out for the season with his knee injury. THE GAME: Kettering were immediately on the attack and Matthew Stevens pace, in just the first minute, took him into a scoring position on the right and his high shot across goal was just past the left upright. Kalern Thomas then raced into the penalty area on the right. His shot was blocked and the loose ball just evaded Stevens. As the ball came back in, Thomas headed wide. The Poppies were swarming over a shell-shocked Frome at this early stage and they opened the scoring on 8 minutes. Lindon Meikle got down the right. His first cross rebounded back to him and he laid the ball into the path of Rhys Hoenes who rammed the ball in from 15 yards. The next attack saw keeper Kyle Phillips diving to his right to save Aaron OConnors shot. Fromes first sight of goal saw Mitchell Pages header drop on top of the net with keeper Paul White watching closely. Ketterings pacy play was soon to the fore again as Thomas crossed again for OConnor to fire over. It was 2-0 on 25 minutes. Hoenes was barged over by Marcus Mapstone and Brett Solkhon rammed home the resultant penalty. The pace of the game understandably dropped a little and Chas Henmmings lobbed a shot over for the visitors. Frome came into the game and threatened for a while with Paul White getting into a couple of sticky situations coming out of his goal. The first saw him quickly release the ball as he raced out to the edge of the area and the ball was cleared. The second saw his header outside the area fall to Frome but the shot came off a defender 35 yards out with the goal unattended and the ball was cleared. In added time in the half Stevens had a good run for Kettering- but the shot was into the side netting. Half Time: Kettering Town 2 - 0 Frome Town The game was effectively over on 50 minutes. Ben Toselands excellent run on the left saw him get to the by line and his low cross was bundled in by Aaron OConnor. Frome had little to offer at this stage and Kettering seemed content with their lead and for once the home crowd was relatively quiet. On 59 minutes Meikle had a great run on the right but his low cross was cleared and another sweeping move saw OConnor set up for a shot but it was high over the bar. Both teams brought on their three substitutes. Kettering changed formation and Frome brought on a couple of their ball players in an effort to liven things up. Rene Howe,on for OConnor, saw a left foot shot saved by Phillips. At the other end a neat one-two between Hemmings and Page saw Hemmings fire wide of the left upright. Kyle Phillips then just got down to save an errant back header from one of his defenders and for Kettering, substitute Wilson Carvalho had a low shot blocked. Right at the end of the game, Fromes Jon Davies low left foot shot was easy for White; Matty Stevens shot was well saved and Howe volleyed the rebound wide. So its now on to Tuesdays home game against Dorchester Town, followed by two massive games at home to Weymouth next Saturday and away at Kings Lynn on Easter Monday.
