Match Report
The Poppies enjoyed the vast majority of possession today at The Eyrie, but lost the game 1-0. The only goal, after 28 minutes, was scored by Mason which was one of two Bedford chances in the game compared to numerous efforts from Kettering, who found home keeper, Barnes in inspired form.
Kettering enjoyed good possession in the opening period without really threatening goal and had triallist James Brighton to thank for clearing a Bedford effort away from goal as keeper Enol Ordonez came off his line.
The goal came from a cross from the right which Ordonez came for, missed, and left Mason with an easy header into goal.
It was then all Kettering as Richard Danquan saw a shot saved, Dubi Ogbonna's shot was saved and then he glanced wide a great chance from Danquan's cross. Saul Williams fired over and Obonna's rasping shot took a deflection before rattling the post.
As usual both teams began to make substitutions in the second half but the visitors' dominance continued.
Williams' shot was saved by Barnes and Ogbonna's long range effort was straight at the keeper. Jevanni Brown's run gave him an opening, but he fired over. Then Andy Gooding's shot was well saved and then Barnes made the save of the match to deny Grocott. Into the last 15 minutes Ogbonna's effort was brilliantly blocked and a traillist saw his shot saved, low down.
In the final minutes Brown created a great chance, but blazed over and Ogbonna drilled a good shot which Barnes just got a hand to and deflected for a corner.
