Mitch's Preview

Team-mates on the U-21's stage could find themselves locking horns tomorrow when the Elite's face the Development squad in the United Counties League U-21 Division at Kettering Town FC.

Both sides will feature exciting young talent who represent the club and are produced by us.

Ahead of what is always a fiercely-contested club derby, our Under-21's Elite Manager, Mitch Austin, says club friendships will be put to one side for 90 minutes at Latimer Park, with the onus on our players to produce good performances in a bid to win the game.

“There is never a need for extra motivation when we play the Development,” he said. “It’s a match between two very competitive Kettering Town U-21 squad's and it always adds a little spice because a lot of the players know each other, so there is definitely a rivalry."

“Both sets of players want to impress, so the high standards have been set and the challenge for my players is to match them."

“I never get tired of saying it – work rate and basics are key and then we like to think we’ve got the players to play good football.”

Kick-off is at 11am tomorrow.
