Bio:

Rene as striker originally joined the Poppies in 2006 from Bedford Town, making a huge impact at the club. With 25 goals in the 48 games played that season. He scored 5 against Clitheroe in the FA Trophy and 4 against Hyde United in the Nationwide Conference North. It was obvious Rene would move on which he did at the end of the season to Peterborough United. He later played on loan at Rochdale, Lincoln City and Morecambe before moves to Gillingham, Rushden & Diamonds (where he scored against Kettering in the FA Cup), Bristol Rovers, Torquay United, Burton Albion and Newport County. Rene re-joined the Poppies in November 2015 adding 9 goals to his tally with some inspired performances during the run in.  Rene was in impressive form during the 2016-17 season finishing the season on 49 career goals, also winning the Supporters Player of Year, the Overall Player of the Year, the Poppies Trust Player of the Year and Vice President’s Player of the Year.
