Dave Hennessey joins the Poppies.
Dave Hennessey, the former AFC Sudbury General Manager, is joining the Poppies as a member on the new Strategic Advisory Board. Dave comes with a wealth of experience from his time at Sudbury as well as a more recent stint at Conrad United FC l, where in addition to his duties as Director of Football, he played a leading role on both the football development and commercial side of the club.
Dave comes in on the back of a detailed review of the current structure of the club undertaken during the summer; a process that has taken a little longer than anticipated.
He will bring a blend of experience, know-how and connections from right across the non-league boardrooms as well as commercial contacts from across the business community and he will be a huge asset to the team here at Kettering.
Following his appointment, he said “I am delighted to be joining a great club like Kettering; a club with a fantastic history and tradition. When I first spoke with George about the opportunity, it was no-brainer. I’ve worked with George and Fabian over the past two years most notably on the Harvey Peters transfer and I have great respect for both and working together promises to be lot of fun.
The club is gearing up for a big season on and off the pitch and I am looking forward to being part of an exciting season ahead. I can’t wait to get started”.
The review of the club structure so far has seen the appointment of a club secretary, additions to the media team as well as new volunteers right across the club. Dave will be part of the new Strategic Advisory Board, which will focus on the big picture; guiding long-term growth, and providing expert advice to George and the football club.
In time a new chairman, along with George and Club Secretary Paul Arnold, will work with the newly named Operational Committee, which replaces the previous Management Committee, retaining the majority of the members and who will focus on managing the day-to-day running and immediate needs of the club.
Ahead of finalising the new structure, George said, “as we look towards the future of our football club, the main goal is to build a structure that allows us to grow, supports our staff and volunteers and takes full advantage of the incredible expertise we have across our entire team. To achieve this, we are moving away from the traditional, rigid hierarchies and instead, introducing a modern, dual-wing structure that places equal value on daily execution and long-term vision”.
