Bedford Town have released a statement today stating that the proposed merger of Bedford Town FC and Real Bedford FC this summer is not going ahead and that Bedford Town will remain as Bedford Town FC for the start of the 2025/26 season.
Both clubs received communication from the Football Association requesting a deadline be met before the end of April to confirm the merger. Unfortunately, this has not given the clubs enough time to complete the necessary governance and agree significant details to finalise the deal in time, hence the decision.
As far as the outcome of the Southern League Premier Central is concerned, the announcement takes away any uncertainty as to how the promotion and play off places will be decided and it’s as you were with three games remaining and all to play for. COYP!
