‘Playoff Delight For Poppies, Now For Promotion’ Match Preview Biggleswade Town Easter Monday

“It’s not a circus, its wasn’t entertaining it’s the result that matters” Richard Lavery’s wise words after the hard fought 1-0 win at home against Royston Town emphasised the focus our continued excellent unbeaten performances in our last seven games.

With the trip to bottom team Biggleswade Town on Easter Monday, KTFC need to secure another away three points with only two games left this campaign to keep the pressure on Bedford Town and if required, secure second place for a favourable playoff draw. Monday will witness league leaders Bedford Town away to local rivals Hitchin Town, Stratford are at home against Alvechurch, Stamford AFC play Spalding United away whilst Halesowen and AFC Telford are involved in the tie of the round when they play each other at The Grove. Eight points separating the top five and four points between the top four.

‘The Waders’, under the managership of Jimmy Martin, are already relegated, having lost three times in their last five matches. In the last six game league overall form guide, they are 20th in all games (4 points from a possible 18), home 20th place (having picked up 5 points from a possible 18) and 17th in the away form league (four points from six games). Twenty places and 48 points separate the two teams.

KTFC, unbeaten in their last six games with three wins (Royston Town 0-1; Alvechurch 0-1; Bishop’s Stortford 0-2) together with three draws (AFC Telford 1-1; Stamford AFC 1-1 and Hitchin 2-2), reside in second place in the league. The Poppies sit 6th in the overall form guide have attained 12 points from a possible 18 (11th place for home form (9 from 18 points) and fifth position for away matches (11 points out of 18). A point in our next three games will guarantee a playoff place. Our record against Biggleswade is patchy with only one win in the last four and having lost twice in recent encounters. We have a few injury concerns with Storer and Powell picking up injuries. However, with the strength in depth and the talent in the squad we hopefully we will have enough collective intent to win at Langford Road and set up a a cracking last home game against Banbury United. COYP!
