With just Leon Lobjoit and Andi Thanoj unavailable and Callum Powell injured, who was at the game, manager Simon Hollyhead fielded his first team, the majority played for 58 minutes.
The Poppies started lively and were ahead after just 6 minutes from an overhead kick from Wes York at close range, after an assist from Eddy Oppong. Trialist B, who was impressive from the word go, netted the second goal after a superb passage of play, this time Jamar Loza assisting.
In reply, the Bedworth No7 forced Paul White into a good save at his near post. But the Poppies were rampant with Loza having a good chance to make it 3-0. However, his overstretched foot just missing to force the ball home at the back post. Captain George Forsyth had a good headed opportunity on 39 minutes but again just missed out.
The Poppies third came from a beautiful low cross from Loza, with York steering the ball into the net, cannoning off the cross bar and making it more spectacular. On 24 minutes, Levi Andoh hit the post with a downward header when a fourth goal seemed certain.
Half time: Bedworth United 0-3 Kettering Town
Kai Fifield and Lewis White replaced York and Trialist A.
With just 4 minutes into the second half Loza hit the bar with a deft header before the hosts got one back with a free kick, going under the wall and deceiving White in goal. Loza made it 4-1, intercepting a weak back pass and planting the ball into the net, giving the keeper no chance.
On 58 minutes, Hollyhead rung the changes with 6 trialists and substitute goalkeeper Josh Humphrey entering the field of play. The young keeper was soon in action facing a penalty. Bedworth made it 4-2 from the spot kick and soon after the hosts made it 4-3 as the complexities of the game changed.
It was a good workout for the first 58 minutes, and a good second run out for Fifield and White. On a sour note, deep into time added on, White went down with what look liked a serious injury. The referee brought the game to a close.
