The roller-coaster of a season continues with the visit on Saturday of the Poppies to the Sixways Stadium home of ‘The Goats’ Worcester City kick off 15:00.
Worcester City, promoted this season, come into the game following a 3-2 AET replay defeat in the Emirates FA Cup away against Chasetown. The Goats league form in their first five games as been turbulent securing one win in their last game 0-3 against Halesowen Town, two draws (2-2 against Bury Town at home and 1-1 away at Banbury United) together with two losses (1-0 versus Needham Market and their opening fixture at home to Quorn 0-1). Their performance leaves them in a respectable fourteenth place in the league with five points.
Kettering Town, still smarting over our 0-1 Bank Holiday Monday home league defeat against Harborough Town, have bounced back with a 1-4 away win in the FA Cup and a Leon Lobjoit hattrick at Long Eaton. In the league, the Poppies reside in third place, a point behind The Bees on 13 points and three adrift of league leaders Bishop Stortford with fifteen. Both of the unbeaten sides have interesting ties this Saturday with The Bees at home to Halesowen Town and Bishop Stortford at home to fifteenth placed Stourbridge. Of the other play offs teams, Quorn are away at Leiston and Spalding are away at Stratford.
Despite the departures of Romeo Ebondo and Fin Corrigan, Simon Hollyhead should be able to choose from a fully fit squad. Kettering Town face three subsequent tough games at home versus Spalding on Tuesday for the rearranged fixture under the lights at Latimer Park, followed by a stern test at Quorn in the Emirates FA Cup 2QR closely followed by Bishop Stortford at home on 20th September.
Worcester are difficult to break down and can score goals as Halesowen discovered. However, with Kettering in goal scoring form coming into a critical part of the season, its all set for an exciting match.
Enjoy the game.  Â
